About KP.C
History
I first started blogging a little before xanga got really popular. My friend introduced me to freewebs when I was about 12. So I started creating a few sites with freewebs. I used daydream graphics (when it was still young and looking less business-like) to learn basic div layout creation. I thought I was so cool. I had always been playing around with websites off and on. I had taught myself how to make pretty decent yet very simple div and scrolling div layouts and I felt I was ready for a real hosting plan and my very own domain. I bought hosting and a domain (papurika.net) from surpass hosting. After the first year I lost interest. My web friend and schoolmate revealed her site to me which got me interested in websites again. I searched around for hosts that weren't too expensive...or those that were totally free with unlimited web space! You can probably guess what kind of results I got with that search (which, by the way lasted a year or two). And that takes me here. I found the most amazing hosting package from dreamhost. I fought with my mother for a while about purchasing it (she kept bringing up my failed surpass deal) but finally she gave in.The Domain Name
After having Kokopurin for over two years, I had decided that it was time for a change. I spent ten months looking for a domain name and had almost nothing to show for it. All I had was a list of adjectives and nouns scribbled across a piece of scrap paper that had been carelessly left among the clutter of my desk. One day in school, my friend and I were wispering to eachother about the new German exchange student. I decided to invite her to sit with us and we introduced ourselves. When she heard my name, Laura (as she introduced herself), replyed in the most adorable German accent: "Oh! Like Chocolate! That is so cool!" Laura continued to explain that in German, chocolate (choco for short) is pronounced as my name is. That afternoon as soon as I arrived home I googled the German spelling of chocolate (schokolade). I made a list of different forms to use my name as chocolate in my domain. That is when I came up with "shocolat." It is not too similar to my name to be obvious and it ends in "-at" which sounds sharper and more sophisticated than "-ade."DreamHost Deal
